ABOUT CHARLIE
Charline “Charlie” Tetiyevsky is a writer, producer, and visual artist living in New York City. A first-generation Ukrainian-American, Charlie graduated with honors from Columbia University in 2012, earning degrees in art history and creative writing. They’ve worked as a non-fiction writer and journalist in NYC, Los Angeles, and Sydney, exploring everything from politics and psychedelic drug research to porn sets, Satanists, and Grammy-winning musicians.
Charlie is also an accomplished photojournalist, their photos having been published in the National Geographic Kids’ book Chomp!and by CBS News, Rutgers University, the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, and others (see below).
In 2023, Charlie published the full-length poetry collection Saturn Returns. Their first poetry and photo collection, Things to Keep the Living Alive, was published in 2007 and sold at the MoMA store, followed by illustration zine Rude Flash in 2015. Charlie’s poetry has been featured in literary magazines like Quarto, Tablet, the Susquehanna Review, the Birch, and Collective Presse. They are currently writing their first novel and developing several screenplays and TV pilots.
Charlie is a member of the WGAE’s Indie Film Caucus and represented for TV and film by Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.
Through their production company Potato Chip, LLC, Charlie wrote and co-produced the climate change documentary short Birds? What Are They Good For?, which made its broadcast television premiere through Virgin Media and screened in many countries, including schools in war-torn Ukraine.
Charlie’s screenplay for the one-hour supernatural horror television pilot Demon of Kingswas a finalist at the Vail Film Festival, the Richmond International Film Festival, and the Creative World Awards and placed in many other contests including the WeScreenplay TV Contest, the Big Apple Film Festival, and the ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship. Their feature film Superspreaders was selected as a finalist for the WGAE’s New York Screenplay Contest along with a treatment for a film set in Ukraine based on their short story, Ursula the Motorcycle-Riding She-Bear (or, the Great Traveling Circus Comes to Chernivtsi).
As an actor, Charlie appeared in Stuart Little 2; HBO’s Succession, Gossip Girl, and And Just Like That…; Amazon Prime’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith; Showtime’s Billions; and Apple TV’s Hello Tomorrow!, City on Fire, and Extrapolations as well as many plays, shorts, podcasts, and other television shows.
While living in Sydney, Charlie was co-owner of the Parliament Zine Project, a brick-and-mortar indie zine and comic book shop. They were also the Editor-in-Chief of the Sunday Syndicate, a digital indie comix publisher that worked to help artists in NYC and across the world connect their work with brand new audiences.
